Production Introduction
A “CNC plasma” system is a machine that carries a plasma torch and
can move that torch in a path directed by a computer. The term
“CNC” refers to “Computer Numerical Control”, which means that a
computer is used to direct the machine's motion based on numerical
codes in a program.
Plasma Cutting allows for fast speed cutting, which saves you time
and money. Plasma cuts are also smoother,
hence require less de-burring than traditional methods.
Torch Cutting, or Flame Cutting allows you to cut thicker plates
with greater accuracy. However it is much slower,
hence may be slightly more costly than Plasma Cutting.
What are the three components of a plasma cutting system?
A plasma arc cutting system consists of three basic elements – a
power supply, an arc starting circuit and a torch. These components
provide the electrical energy, ionization capability and process
control required to create efficient high quality cuts on a variety
of metal materials.
